The Big Read is returning to Christian County for a second year in a row, thanks to a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Pennyroyal Arts Council.

The PAC recently secured the $16,200 matching grant to put on the community and student-engagement reading program which includes themed activities based around a single book.

"Grab your glad rags and get your wiggle on" The Pennyroyal Arts Council hosts "The Big Read," a program of the National Endowment for the Arts and Arts Midwest. Hopkinsville was one of 77 counties across the country to receive the grant, celebrating literacy in events spanning six weeks. Margaret Prim succeeds Carol Barta as Executive Director of the Pennyroyal Arts Council in Hopkinsville.  There’s a reception for Barta on January 17, and the Council hosts the Nelson Illusions Smoke and Mystery Tour at the Alhambra on January 25, 2013. She spoke with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good.

Pennyroyal Arts Council Names New Director

The Pennyroyal Arts Council has chosen Margaret Prim to succeed the group’s outgoing director Carol Barta. The Kentucky New Era reports Barta is set to leave the council at the end of the year.
