LowerTown Arts


Utica, Kentucky, based watercolorist Carole Gordon is among 65 artists who will display and sell a variety of works at the LowerTown Arts and Music Festival in Paducah this weekend. She's a 2001 graduate of Owensboro Community College with a lifelong interest in painting and in horses. Ms. Gordon is an exhibiting member with the Kentucky Arts Council's Kentucky Crafted and Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen.

The 2013 LowerTown Arts and Music Festival is just around the corner and Amy Sanders of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra's staff shares the rundown on the music line-up during Sounds Good. The festival runs from May 17-19 on 7th and Madison in Paducah. Paducah School of Art Construction Underway

Construction has begun on a new Paducah School of Art location. Director Paul Aho tells the Paducah Sun this first phase of construction is set for completion in 2013. The building underway will stand in the city’s LowerTown district, housing the school’s ceramics program.

LowerTown: A Musical Extravaganza

A ukele orchestra, gospel groups fresh from church, some familiar faces like Bawn in the Mash, Alonzo Pennington, Solid Rockit Boosters and many more music groups are entertaining at the Lowertown Arts and Music Festival through the weekend.  Paducah Symphony Orchestra’s Artistic Services Manager Leigh Ann Renfro was on the committee choosing the tunes and speaks with Kate Lochte about the eclectic mix of live music.
