US 60 Ledbetter Barges/Crane on Track to Reopen

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to resume hanging steel on the new US 60 Ledbetter Bridge next Monday. C.J. Mahan Contracting has had construction crews working on other phases of the project while a salvage team has been working to re-float a crane barge at the site.

Sinking Crane at Ledbetter Bridge Site

Divers, tomorrow, will assess a sinking barge and crane being used to help construct the new US 60 Ledbetter Bridge. Workers at the bridge site which connects McCracken and Livingston Counties noticed the leak while on a routine safety check this weekend.

Crane, barge sink near Ledbetter bridge

Coast Guard officials have restricted traffic along the Tennessee River at Ledbetter as several sinking barges threaten to topple a construction crane into the water.  The barges provide a platform for the crane used in the building of a new bridge at the site.  Work had been shut down at the site for the Memorial Day weekend, and a worker for contractor C.J.

Kentucky Lane Restrictions

A lane restriction begins tomorrow for work on the US 60 Ledbetter Bridge. Crews will work through April 13th to install a deck expansion as part of ongoing repairs to the bridge.  Highway officials say delays will be less than five minutes. Traffic on Interstate 69 will also see lane restrictions in Caldwell County starting Monday April 9.

Contractors for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will restrict travel on the US 60 Tennessee River Bridge at Ledbetter to a single lane this morning. Drivers can expect one-lane traffic with alternating traffic flow from 9 a.m. to about 6 this evening. Travel delays should be minimal. The restriction will allow contractors to deliver concrete as part of ongoing work on one of the bridge piers.

Date Set to Begin Ledbetter Bridge Repairs

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will begin repairs to the US-60 Ledbetter Bridge Saturday. Intech, Inc., of Lexington, is the prime contractor of the nearly $95,000 repair project. The repairs aim to maintain the safety of the bridge while a new one is built upstream. A heavily enforced three-ton load restriction limits traffic on the bridge to mostly non-commercial vehicles. The bridge will be closed to all traffic from 8 pm Saturday, March 24 to 2 am on Sunday, March 25. and on April 6, the US 60 Ledbetter Bridge will be restricted to one lane of traffic.
