Lawsuit Filed Against Chuck Jones Alleges Counterfeiting Textbooks

A lawsuit filed in US District court against Murray businessman Chuck Jones and several of his associates and businesses alleges Jones used companies he owned to infringe the copyrights of several textbook publishers.

McGraw-Hill and Pearson Educations allege Jones and his associates produced counterfeit covers for international editions of their textbooks, allowing him to sell and rent them as US editions for a significant profit.

CBR Files Restraining Order against Owner Chuck Jones

College Book Rental Company, a company owned and until recently, managed by Murray businessman Chuck Jones has filed a restraining order against Jones. In late August, Jones relinquished control of the company to Nashville based consultant Myles MacDonald as part of a settlement with his business partner.

Environmental Groups File Suit to Expand EPA Air Pollution Rules

Environmental groups have filed suit in federal court in an effort to get the Environmental Protection Agency to stiffen rules regulating air pollution. The EPA finalized the Cross-State Air Pollution rule last summer, to crack down on several states—including Kentucky—that both send pollution across state lines and are affected by pollution from other states. That rule has been challenged by several states and industry groups, and is held up in court.

Bowling Green Businessman Awarded Almost $1M in Lawsuit Against City

A southern Kentucky businessman has been awarded nearly $1 million after a jury found the city of Bowling Green and a city electrical inspector were negligent in handling a long-term power outage at the man's store.
