Brrrr! Take a Polar Plunge for Special Olympics in Western Kentucky

The Polar Plunge takes its sixth annual dive in western Kentucky on February 21 at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, where more than 800 are expected to jump into frigid water to benefit Special Olympics groups in the region. Coordinator Laura Miller joins Kate Lochte on Sounds Good to talk about how to register for the costume contest, what it's like to take the plunge and what happens if you're "too chicken" to jump.

Cold Water Won’t Deter Polar Plunge Participants from Raising Special Olympics Funds

Kentucky Lake temperatures are at a chilly 37 degrees today as Polar Plunge participants prepare to jump in tomorrow to raise money for the Special Olympics. That’s ten degrees lower than the water temperature last year.

Western Kentuckians Polar Plunge for Special Olympics

Brrr! Perhaps the chilliest fundraising event of the year, the Western Kentucky Plunge Polar Plunging pits brave Kentuckians against the icy waters of Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park to raise funds for the Special Olympics. The event, held this year on February 15, has grown to more than 500 participants and raising more than $100,000 each year. Kate Lochte speaks with coach and coordinator Laura Miller of Murray about the event.
