Kentucky Roadway Fatalities Continue to Decline

A state law enforcement official says a declining fatality rate in Kentucky can be attributed to a number of factors. 

Kentucky State Police Spokesman Michael Webb says car design improvements, safe driving education and awareness efforts, and enforcement have all helped as the number of deaths on state highways has fallen.

KWW Hosts Region's Largest Arts & Crafts Festival Labor Day Weekend

A family driving through our region stops and asks "Is there anything to do here?" This is a common question from visitors at the office of Kentucky's Western Waterland, off I-24, Exit 31 in Grand Rivers. Director Sandy Davis says KWW has been introducing tourists since 1969, operating over 25 public brochure racks in the 15-county region and publishing 95,000 maps and facilities guides annually. She speaks with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good about KWW and the upcoming Arts & Crafts Festival on Labor Day Weekend in Grand Rivers, the largest and longest-running in the region.

Murray Police on National Drinking & Driving Prevention Effort

Each year, nearly 10,000 people die on the road due to drunk driving, which is the equivalent of 20 jumbo jets crashing each year and killing all aboard. In order to stop this deadly epidemic, law enforcement in every state and most US towns and cities will be cracking down on drunk driving through Labor Day. Murray Police Department Crime Prevention Sergant speaks with Chad Lampe about the crackdown.

Kate Lochte speaks with Marinel Larkin, Kentucky’s Western Waterland Executive Director, previewing the 38th Annual Labor Day Weekend Arts & Crafts Festival in Grand Rivers’ Little Lake Park. Tennessee transportation officials say the state’s highways will be clear of construction over the Labor Day weekend.  Transportation Commissioner John Schroer has ordered that construction stop by noon tomorrow and not resume until 6 a.m.
