Kentucky State University President Raymond Burse is resigning at the end of this week. In a statement released Monday, Burse says he decided that the "further demands and challenges of Kentucky State must be undertaken by new leadership."

UPDATE: The march is now set for Thursday, February 25. The event was originally scheduled for February 29, but organizers decided to change the date to a day when lawmakers would convene at 2 p.m. rather than 4 p.m.

 Kentucky State University president Raymond Burse has outlined plans for next year's $45.8 million operating budget.

The proposal includes cuts to faculty and staff jobs. Burse announced the plans Friday, calling for the elimination of 31 additional campus positions. According to the Lexington Herald Leader, that includes 17 faculty and 14 to 15 staff jobs.

Kentucky State University is dropping a quarter of its students for nonpayment.  The Lexington Herald-Leader reports some of the bills are as high as $40,000 and have lasted two years.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has reached an agreement with Kentucky State University to support environmental measures on the Frankfort campus and develop an environmental science curriculum.
