The President of the Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce will head up a state board of commerce executives next year.

With the first three months of lobbyist reports in for this year’s legislative session, it looks like total spending will easily surpass the previous record.

According to the Kentucky Legislative Ethics Commission, business, organizations and legislative agents spent $7.5 million lobbying lawmakers in the first quarter of this year.

The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce is among more than 160 business organizations from 40 different states that have filed a court document in support of a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan. That plan is aimed at reducing carbon pollution from power plants.

Kentucky has achieved a milestone of economic health with statewide employment levels back up above the peak levels of 2007 and 2008, which were before the recession. That’s according to a new study by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.


A new Kentucky Chamber of Commerce report shows the Commonwealth doing better than the country in some areas of economic recovery since the 2007 recession.

The report uses wage and employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
