Local musician and educator Wayne Harper stops by our studios to play some blues ahead of his free concert with The Harper Brothers Band during "Neighborhood Night" on August 22,  at Kenlake State Resort Park. The concert comes ahead of the Hot August Blues Festival in the park's amphitheater, August 23-24. Kentucky State Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker has tapped Somerset native Joe Mounce for the position. 

A vacation highlight of our region is Twilight Theatre Productions' summer season at Kenlake State Resort Park. It opens this Friday night and features dinner and three new one-act plays by New Yorker Charles Messina, original works performed in professional production. There are Friday and Saturday night shows through August 2. Shirley T. Johnson is the sparkplug behind Twilight Theatre Productions. Her director is actor Charles Edward Hall, whose career started with Mrs Johnson and her husband Robert E. Johnson, for whom the theatre at Murray State University is named. Kate Lochte speaks with Charles Edward Hall.

Chefs Duel at Kenlake State Resort Park

Shirley T. Johnson of Twilight Theatre Productions is putting on "Two Kentucky Dueling Chefs" at Kenlake State Resort Park on Friday, April 12 at 6 p.m. The chefs prepare full dinners of two different cuisines in front of you. Reservations are due to 270-436-2399 by Wednesday, April 10.

Joe LaFleur lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia, but his Better Birdwatching business brings him to Kentucky on a long weekend. The twenty year collector of bird videos and songs gives programs and birdwalks at both Kenlake State Resort Park (9 to 10:30 a.m) and Pennyrile State Resort Park (1 to 2:30 p.m.) on Sunday.
