Kemmerich will Not Develop in Murray

Sep 4, 2013

Kemmerich Engineering German auto parts manufacturer has announced it will no longer develop a plant in Murray.

Economic Development Corporation C-E-O Mark Manning announced today that disagreements over the feasible cost of the project resulted in Kemmerich leaving the negotiation table and seeking other options elsewhere.

Mark Manning, President. Murray-Calloway County Economic Development Corporation, and Jim Carter, Vice President Institutional Advancement, Murray State speak about the time-frame of two German industries, iwis and Kemmerich, establishing themselves in Murray and hiring and the prospect of partnerships with the University.

The German company Kemmerich Metal Engineering will build its U.S. headquarters in Murray. The automotive parts supplier plans to add 120 jobs to the community in the next five years. Murray Calloway Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Mark Manning says Kemmerich is the first business to locate in Murray's new northern industrial park.

One of the reasons this company is coming here is because everything had been pre-prepared. All the utilities were in place, the ground was cleared and compacted, so it will speed up construction by months.
