Sugar is a 10-month-old Poodle/Jack Russell Terrier mix up for adoption at the Humane Society of Calloway County. She's mostly white with brown ears and some brown patches on her tail. Even though she's part terrier and a puppy, she was very calm and sweet at WKMS, and was eager to meet all the staff and students that wanted to see her. Upon meeting Whitney, she climbed right into her lap and loved being petted on. Sugar had one previous owner, who could no longer afford to care for her. The Humane Society is seeking a loving and forever home for Sugar.
Puppies! Our favorite day of the month at WKMS. This time we met two seven-week-old puppies, Max and Sweet Pea, up for adoption. Max is black and Sweet Pea has brown and black coloring (kind of like a German Shepherd). These puppies are mixed-breed with features from a few different breeds. Also, they came from a litter of 15! Max and Sweet Pea were very adorable and sweet. You'll hear Max throughout the interview, watching his sister being playful. What could he be saying?
Two very sweet puppies came up to the station today, Lola and Gus are shih tzu / boxer mixes, sister and brother, in need of a loving home from the Humane Society of Calloway County. Lola is the fluffy white one and Gus is the scrappy brown and white one. Even though they are only 10 weeks old, they are very friendly and approached every staff member, eager to be pet. Their foster mom says they are energetic and currently live in a house with a several large dogs and do just fine playing with them. They are estimated to be about 30 to 50 pounds when fully grown and are working on their house training, crate training, and basic obedience.
Today we met two brothers, Winston (mostly white) and Houston (mostly black). They are two adorable border collie-labrador retriever-red heeler mixes up for adoption at the Humane Society of Calloway County. These two pups were very low key and sleepy when they came up to the station, but full of love for everyone who came to greet them. Once we took them into the studio, they got some energy and played with each other during the human conversation. They will grow up to be very intelligent and active mid-sized dogs that need good homes and owners who will keep them busy.
Hunter came up to make his radio debut today! He's a playful and energetic Labrador puppy. He loved meeting everyone at the station and was very curious to find snug hiding spots underneath chairs and tables even though he's bigger than he thinks. When we brought him into the studio, he climbed into his foster mom's lap and went right to sleep! We think he'd be a great fit for a family with kids and plenty of energy. Here's more information about Hunter on petfinder.com.
Today we met Bella, a Beagle, Westie, and Pekingese mix. She was born on January 13th, 2013 with three siblings and is available for adoption from The Humane Society of Calloway County. She was very sweet to everyone at WKMS; loved to be held and played with. She got lots of treats because she did such a good job making her radio debut.
Two adorable terrier mixes, Laura and Lera came up to the station for Puppies Sound Good! Every second Wednesday of the month, Kathy Hodge of the Calloway County Humane Society brings up puppies looking for homes. This month: Laura and Lera, part of a litter of five girls, described as looking like a little bit of everything, but mostly terrier. They have big paws, so we think they'll grow up to be medium-sized adult dogs. If you are interested in adoption, please visit their website: www.humanesocietyofcallowaycounty.org.
This month on "Puppies Sound Good" Chad Lampe welcomes Husky mix Cheyenne and Kathy Hodge, Brandi King of the Calloway County Humane's Society and Cheyenne's current foster care taker Auriel Lyford. Hodge and King discuss the adoption and fostering process along with an upcoming pet adoption day, December 1st, and the annual "Pet Photos with Santa Claws" event, December 8th at the Weaks Community Center in Murray. See more information at the Humane Society of Calloway County website.
