Pilot Flying J has sent checks to trucking companies allegedly shorted on rebates amid an FBI investigation of alleged fraud by the sales staff at the nation's largest diesel retailer.  Company CEO and Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam says that following an audit, his company has sent out money owed, with interest, to customers.

A trucking company suing Pilot Flying J is accusing Chief Executive Officer Jimmy Haslam of obstructing justice and buying off alleged cheated customers.

In a motion for a restraining order filed Thursday, attorneys for Atlanta Coast Carriers accuse Haslam of asking customers to sign releases giving up their rights to sue.

The trucking company filed a lawsuit against Pilot in Circuit Court last week accusing the company of racketeering violations. They say Pilot, the country's largest diesel retailer, owes the company interest on the lost money, along with damages as punishment. Pilot lawyers have denied any wrongdoing.

Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam says he has suspended several members of the sales team at Pilot Flying J, the family-owned truck stop chain that is under a federal fraud investigation.

FBI and Internal Revenue Service agents last week raided the Knoxville headquarters of the country's largest diesel retailer. An affidavit filed in federal court alleges a widespread scheme to defraud customers.

An FBI agent's affidavit says a Pilot Flying J employee told authorities that Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam knew about rebate fraud at the truck stop chain his family owns.

The 120-page document was filed Thursday in federal court in Knoxville, where Pilot is based. It identifies the employee only as a confidential source.

Haslam says the foundation of the company is integrity and pledged to cooperate with the investigation.
