As candidates to become Kentucky’s next governor scramble to pledge allegiance to the coal industry, there’s one question they’re not addressing: Does burning coal contribute to climate change?

None of the three announced candidates for governor—former Louisville Metro Councilman Hal Heiner and Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, both Republicans; nor Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway—have offered a statement one way or another about whether they agree with the scientific consensus that burning fossil fuels like coal makes the planet warmer and destabilizing the climate.

Dainty: A Democratic Pit Stop In Louisville on the Road to Fancy Farm

On the road to this weekend's Fancy Farm political picnic, there are detours.

One is the Dainty contest, a unique annual sports event in Louisville’s Schnitzelburg neighborhood that draws local and statewide politicians.

In the run up to Fancy Farm, the Dainty has served as a kind of roadside attraction. Candidates rub elbows with prospective voters in an attempt to energize the base in one of Kentucky's most solidly working-class Democratic strongholds.

Jack Conway Raises $750,000 Towards Kentucky Governor's Race

Attorney General Jack Conway has raised more than $750,000 since announcing his campaign for the Democratic nomination for Kentucky governor less than two months ago.

Conway has about $705,000 in cash on hand, according to the campaign's first report to the state election finance registry. He has donated only $1,000 of his own money to his campaign.

Former Caregiver Charged with Reckless Homicide

A former caregiver at a Medicaid-funded facility was charged with one count of reckless homicide by a Graves County jury. Alan Warner was caring for a resident at a Community Alternatives facility in Hickory, Kentucky when he allegedly failed to follow his training and improperly treated a resident who lost consciousness, eventually resulting in the resident’s death.
