The Kentucky Medicaid program has recovered $7 million dollars in a settlement with Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical companies. 

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway recovered $7 million on behalf of Kentucky’s Medicaid program following a settlement with 47 companies in the Johnson & Johnson family. 

Kentucky is one of 13 states intervening in a 90-million dollar lawsuit against Healthpoint, Ltd. Attorney General Jack Conway and his Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control allege that a bedsore ointment called Xenaderm is a “less than effective” drug by FDA standards, for which Medicaid coverage is illegal. 

Kentucky officials are once again planning to crack down on voter fraud in the May 22 primary.

The advocacy group Common Cause is asking federal agencies to remove the non-profit tax-exempt status of the American Legislative Exchange Council. The ALEC provides lawmakers with sample legislation and talking points, often to promote conservative issues, and Common Cause says the organization is a lobbying group. Kentucky's ALEC co-chair, Senator Tom Buford, says Common Cause could be considered a Democratic group, and isn’t worried about the organization being examined by the Attorney General’s office.
