Billionaire Chicago businessman J.B. Pritzker says he's still "seriously considering" running for Illinois governor in 2018. The Democrat released a statement Wednesday, after businessman Chris Kennedy announced he's seeking the Democratic nomination to try to unseat Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner. Kennedy is the son of Ethel and the late U.S. Sen. Robert Kennedy. Pritzker is the brother of Penny Pritzker, who served as Commerce Secretary under President Barack Obama.

Illinois Republican state Senator Kirk Dillard has launched his 2014 campaign to become that state’s governor.  Dillard lost the 2010 GOP primary to state Senator Bill Brady Dillard but says he's learned lessons since then.  He's billing himself as a good candidate because he's a suburban Chicago politician with downstate votes.

A Republican venture capitalist weighing a run for Illinois governor has raised $1.3 million in the last month.

Bruce Rauner began forming and exploratory committee in March to consider a 2014 bid for governor. He also started a statewide listening tour to gauge interest from Illinois residents. The money raised since then includes a $249,000 contribution from Rauner.
