Murray State Alumna Helps Write Untold Stories of Humanitarian Efforts

Murray State alumna Holly Wise is passionate about multimedia storytelling with an emphasis on international humanitarian issues. She teaches at Texas State University near Austin and she founded VoiceBox Media in 2012. Its purpose is to create journalistically sound multimedia story packages for small to mid-sized nongovernmental organizations in order to bridge the gap between them and potential donors. Carmen Lowry on Social Change and Empowerment Initatives

Carmen Lowry's humanitarian work with the International Rescue Committee has recently taken her to Lebanon and Iraqi Kurdistan. Her focus is programming involving social change, empowerment, and addressing gender-based violence. She visits Kate Lochte on Sounds Good to speak about her work.

"You know, I think what really drives me in this work is this notion that we can really make a difference, that we can create a world where people are valued, a world where, in particular, women are valued, where we don't have that level of violence."

World adventurer, humanitarian, and now, President of Spalding University in Louisville, Tori Murden McClure, speaks about her book "A Pearl in the Storm" for the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce 'Power in Partnership' Breakfast October 17. She was the first woman and first American to row solo across the Atlantic.
