Hopkins Co. Schools Plans to Tear Down Tech Center

Nov 30, 2012

The Hopkins County School Board plans to tear down its new Career and Technology Center and start again at a new site because of compounding foundation problems. Work on the tech center stopped last year after officials discovered the foundation was sinking. The site is on top on of a reclaimed strip mine. Previously, the school district hoped mircopiles would stabilize the building.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department is looking for suspects after $41,000 in copper and other metal was stolen from the county’s new career and technology center. Detective Will Coursey says the Hopkins County School District reported the items missing last week.
