Kentucky Great River Road Invites Travelers to "Come Closer"

The Great River Road National Scenic Byway follows the Mississippi River through ten states, from Minnesota to the Louisiana delta. Along the way, it moves through four Kentucky counties that make up the westernmost portion of the state: Ballard, Carlisle, Hickman and Fulton. In this portion of the road, travelers might see the Wickliffe Mounds, Ft. Jefferson, Columbus-Belmont Park, Dorena Hickman Ferry and other sites. Norma Pruitt is the Executive Director of the Kentucky Great River Region Organization and joins Todd Hatton on Sounds Good to share how this marketing organization came to be and hopes for future tourism.

eLearning Centers Bring Broadband Internet to Far Western Kentucky

Murray State University, the Kentucky Council on Post-secondary Education and the Commonwealth Office of Broadband Outreach and Development are collaborating to bring free, public access, broadband internet service to counties in west Kentucky. The four river counties in westernmost Kentucky are among the most in-need of service: Ballard, Carlisle, Hickman and Fulton. On Sounds Good, MSU Regional Outreach Director Gina Winchester and Regional Outreach Coordinator Jonathan Baskin describe the effort.

Clinton Crafts Concrete Chickens for Cultural Celebration

The Hickman County Arts Council is raising money in connection with Clinton's Chicken Festival by selling hand-painted chickens crafted out of concrete. The brightly decorated chickens are on sale during the Hickman County Spring Chicken Festival, April 25-26. Mary Potter speaks with Kate Lochte about the chickens and the festival on Sounds Good

Clinton Celebrates Heritage in 9th Annual Arts, Crafts & Book Fair

Celebrating Clinton's heritage in the arts, The Friends of Hickman County Arts Council present the 9th Annual Arts, Crafts & Book Fair this Saturday (December 7) from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Hickman County Elementary School's gym in Clinton. Kate speaks with council members Mary and Ivan Potter about the event on Sounds Good. The school is located at 416 McMorris St. in Clinton.

Damaged Bridge Closes KY 2206 in Hickman County

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has closed KY 2206/Springhill Road in Hickman County due to a damaged bridge.

The road was closed this morning at mile point 0.6 after bridge inspectors found damage to pilings on the Cane Fork Creek Bridge. Inspectors believe the bridge was damaged by an overweight load in the last few weeks.

The bridge was restricted to a 15-ton load limit.
