Thursday Afternoon:

Heavy rain continues to pour over the Four Rivers Region this afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning until 7:30 tonight. Two to four inches of rain have already fallen over the past 4 hours and one to two inches of additional rainfall is possible. Stay clear of flooded roads.

Heavy rain is expected to impact parts of western Kentucky and southern Illinois over the next two days with some areas under a flash flood warning.   

National Weather Service forecasters in Paducah say a large scale storm system will enter our region tonight, bringing around 3 inches of rain with some areas seeing 4 to 5 inches.

Illinois' state climatologist says late-October rains helped restore soil moisture after three exceptionally dry months.

Climatologist Jim Angel says a near-normal 3 point 2 inches of precipitation fell in October, most of it in the last few days of the month.

National Weather Service officials say remnants of former Hurricane Isaac will bring gusty winds and rain to the region this weekend. Forecaster David Humprhey says heavy rain will be the biggest effect of the storms, with 2-3 inches expected between now and Sunday. But high winds are also a concern. Humphrey says NWS has issued a lake wind advisory today through Sunday.
