The National Weather Service in Paducah says temperatures have topped 100 degrees today in a reading at Barkley Regional Airport. NWS tweets that the previous record was 98 degrees in 1946.

Many high school football teams are looking to cancel or shift start times of their games tonight as temperatures remain in the mid to upper 90's and heat indices hover near 100.

Excessive Heat Warning

We have an excessive heat warning in effect from 10 this morning until 7 Thursday night for the Four Rivers Region.  Heat indices could reach 105 degrees.
