MSU Regional Outreach Funds 10 Projects

The Murray State University office of regional outreach has allocated $158,000 to regional projects. The advisory council selected 10 projects in its 18-county service region, including grants for science, technology engineering and mathematics education and early childhood learning.

Trigg Co Hospital applies for $500,000 grant

Trigg County’s Hospital is finalizing building plans to apply for a 500-thousand dollar state grant to assist with construction. The Community Development Block Grants are awarded in January to organizations that serve populations where 51% of residents fall at or below the poverty level. Hospital CEO Alisa Coleman says the money would go toward construction of a new surgical suite, expanding the rehab project, and renovating an existing church building at the hospital.

Home Grant Application

Paducah’s City Commissioners took another step toward revitalizing Fountain Avenue during their meeting Tuesday night. They approved a municipal order to apply for a Kentucky Housing Corporation HOME Grant of $308,000. The money will help fund the construction of seven new homes in the Fountain Avenue neighborhood. Mayor Bill Paxton said the neighborhood developed in the 1950’s and has since deteriorated.
