KWW Hosts Region's Largest Arts & Crafts Festival Labor Day Weekend

A family driving through our region stops and asks "Is there anything to do here?" This is a common question from visitors at the office of Kentucky's Western Waterland, off I-24, Exit 31 in Grand Rivers. Director Sandy Davis says KWW has been introducing tourists since 1969, operating over 25 public brochure racks in the 15-county region and publishing 95,000 maps and facilities guides annually. She speaks with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good about KWW and the upcoming Arts & Crafts Festival on Labor Day Weekend in Grand Rivers, the largest and longest-running in the region.

Celebrate the 4th Red, White & Tuna-Style at Badgett Playhouse

Red, White & Tuna and The Fabulous Fifties Show are Fourth Fare at the Badgett Playhouse in Grand Rivers. Red, White & Tuna is the 3rd installment in the comedic series Greater Tuna, a satirical ride through the the hearts and minds of the polyester-clad citizens of Texas' third smallest town. Perennial favorites and new arrivals appear in the 4th of July Tuna High School Class Reunion. Take a stroll down memory lane in The Fabulous 50's Show and The 70s Show this Saturday. A Preview of Grand Rivers' 38th Annual Labor Day Weekend Arts & Crafts Festival

Kate Lochte speaks with Marinel Larkin, Kentucky’s Western Waterland Executive Director, previewing the 38th Annual Labor Day Weekend Arts & Crafts Festival in Grand Rivers’ Little Lake Park. Over 100 vendors with handmade crafts will be at the festival, along with food vendors and family activities. The three-day festival runs from August 31-September 2 in downtown Grand Rivers. Grand Rivers Receives Federal Grants and Loans for New Wastewater Treatment Plant

U.S. Department of Agriculture loans and grants will help replace the troubled Grand Rivers wastewater treatment plant. The USDA’s Acting Administrator of the Rural Utilities Service, John Padalino  said the $6-million allow for a new treatment plant and modified pump station. Grand Rivers Mayor Tom Moodie has said the current plant is underpowered and fails often.  Padalino said environmental impact studies have been completed to allow the project to move forward.
