Court of Appeals Has Six Months To Rule on Legality of Instant Racing

A decision is expected within six weeks over whether Instant Racing is legal in Kentucky. The state’s Court of Appeals heard arguments in the case today.

Instant Racing is a slots-like game that Kentucky racetracks hope to use to boost race purses. But the Family Foundation of Kentucky says the game isn’t pari-mutuel betting like horse racing, but instead is closer to a slot machine.

Foundation executive director Kent Ostrander says based on questions from the appeals judge, he believes the case will go back to square one.

New Documents Shed Light on SuperPAC Role in 4th Congressional District Race

Newly-released documents show that a Northern Kentucky businessman is the  primary donor and a significant fundraiser for a super PAC that's involved in Kentucky's Fourth Congressional District race. But super PAC officials say the man has no official role with the group.

Richard Knock of Union is a frequent Republican donor and he supports Thomas Massie in the seven-way GOP primary for the Fourth District Seat.

TN House panel kills guns bill, NRA pushes floor vote

A Tennessee House committee has voted to kill a guns measure that has pitched firearms advocates against business groups.  The House Calendar Committee voted 15-8 Tuesday to send the bill to a study committee after the Legislature adjourns for the year.  The measure backed by the National Rifle Association would allow anybody with a state-issued handgun carry permit to store loaded firearms in their vehicles parked on company lots - regardless of their employers' wishes.  NRA lobbyist Darren LaSorte says he will push for calling the bill directly to the House floor.

Governor Beshear Announces Jobs in Cadiz

Cadiz 's Transcraft  is investing $3M to add 80 new jobs, build a new 12,000 sq ft painting facility and purchase new equipment. Governor Beshear stopped in Cadiz for the announcement yesterday.  He says to encourage the investment, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority initially approved Transcraft Corp. for tax incentives up to $2 million dollars through the Kentucky Business Investment program.
