Commission Adopts Hazard Mitigation Plan

Paducah City Commissioners adopted a new hazard mitigation plan Tuesday in order to receive funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The Commissioners and Mayor Pro Tem Gayle Kaler approved a municipal order for parts of the Purchase Region Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan applying to McCracken County. Jurisdictions covered by the plan must adopt it in order to receive FEMA funding.  The plan identifies potential hazards for our region such as tornados, severe thunderstorms, flooding and winter weather.

Paducah City Commission Passes Olivet Church Road Widening

The McCracken County Fiscal Court and Paducah’s City Commission met jointly Tuesday to discuss land transactions as well as improvements to Olivet Church Road.  The Court and Commission held an executive session to talk about the sale or acquisition of certain real estate.  In open session, they passed a joint resolution to widen Olivet Church and improve its curbs and gutters.  City Commissioner Gayle Kaler said the project would increase access to one of the city’s major hubs.

Coleman Drops Out of Paducah Mayoral Race

Paducah mayoral candidate Robert Coleman has announced he's dropping out of the race. Coleman cites ongoing health problems related to nerve surgery in April for the reason he's decided to withdraw.

"With the challenges that you face in the position of a city official, I realized that it would be better for our city and myself to withdraw," Coleman said.

Paducah gets Fire Prevention Division
