Friends of Confederate-Focused Memorial Pick 2015 to Host First Independence Day Celebration

A state park honoring confederate leader Jefferson Davis will play host to its first Independence Day celebration this weekend. The “Friends of Jefferson Davis Historic Site” suggested the Fairview park host the event. The decision comes despite national controversy over the confederate flag and its heritage.  Parks Manager Rod Syndor denies any controversy at his park and said the celebration will be focused on U.S. independence.

Kentucky Official Stresses Water Safety Over Holiday

Heavy boat traffic on the lakes this holiday weekend has Law Enforcement reminding boaters to take extra caution.

Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife's Sgt. Gary Clark stresses the importance of wearing a life jacket at all times on the water and for drivers to be alert of their surroundings. Clark also recommends caution tonight when marinas have their own firework shows after dark.
