  Security camera footage of a June explosion that damaged Murray State’s Richmond Residential College and injured one person reveals a possible connection to a damaged gas regulator replaced just hours before the incident occurred.

Murray State University officials described clean-up work underway, university priorities and where the students will live, following the blast at a residential college last week.

Last week, New Richmond Residential College at Murray State University suffered extensive damage from an explosion connected to a natural gas leak. WKMS News has obtained security cam footage of the incident.

Update July 3rd: . President Bob Davies said in a release Monday that “a significant portion of one of our facilities is now rendered inoperable with the extent of the total damage still being assessed.” A structural engineering report began Friday will take several days to complete. Adrienne King said the work surrounding the event will be temporarily put on hold for the Fourth of July holiday.

A man has been burned after an explosion ripped through a Henderson house.

Silver Trail Distillery Facebook

Two men are recovering at a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee after Marshall County’s Silver Trail Distillery exploded Friday morning.

The distillery is attributing the explosion to a “massive equipment failure." An investigation is ongoing.

The second section of the Old Ledbetter Bridge was taken down with explosives early this morning.

The first truss section of the old Ledbetter Bridge is scheduled for demolition next week, weather permitting. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says C.J. Mahan Construction Company will bring down the bridge’s left descending truss using controlled explosives Thursday September 11.

Update 7:56 P.M: The Kentucky State Police have identified those involved in the explosion.

The surviving victims of the house explosion are Marty Story, 54, of Murray, Melissa Mcleod, 41, of Hazel, Ira Greer, 60, of Almo, and Barbara Parker, 70, of Murray.  The surviving victims remain in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, TN.  The deceased has been identified as Kenneth Story, 72, of Murray.

Original Story: The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of a fatal house explosion that leveled a Calloway County home on Saturday night. Multiple law enforcement agencies arrived at the house on Cook Store Trail near Coldwater shortly after receiving a 911 call from a neighbor.
