Second Evacuation Ordered for Train Derailment Cleanup

Officials are evacuating more than two dozen homes near a train derailment that occurred two weeks ago in southwestern Jefferson County. Louisville-Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Jody Duncan says 31 homes within a half-mile of the derailment are being evacuated to allow workers to remove hazardous chemicals from some of the tanker cars.

Second Evacuation Ordered for Louisville Derailment

People living within a half-mile radius of the site of a Paducah & Louisville Railway derailment in Jefferson County are facing another set of evacuations. Emergency Management  Spokesperson Jody Duncan says the evacuation affects 31 homes. That is just a fraction of those affected in the initial evacuation almost two weeks ago after a chemical fire erupted at the site.

Fire from Train Derailment Under Control

Emergency workers in Kentucky are increasingly confident that fire crews have contained a multi-day blaze spewing flames and smoke from a derailed tanker car. The blaze began Wednesday afternoon, and authorities initially thought it would last no longer than a couple hours. They were still waiting for it to die out late last night, acknowledging they were unsure how much butadiene was left in the burning railcar to fuel the flames.

Some Honeywell Employees Back After Plant Closure

A Nuclear Regulatory Commission inspector is at the Metropolis Honeywell plant observing the inspection of the facility. Honeywell management ordered the plant vacated yesterday after they discovered damage in a production area.
