October Conversation with MSU President Dr. Randy Dunn

In this month's conversation Dr. Dunn discusses his candidacy to be Missouri State University's next President, how the potential of searching for a new president and provost at the same time could affect Murray State, plus an update on work by budget planning and review teams to trim the MSU's budget.

Dr. Dunn also discusses his plans for an "extemporaneous" state of the university address and meeting the stretched $70m Hold Thy Banner high Goal.

Dr. Dunn Speaks at Open Forum During Interview for Missouri State Presidency

Three Regional Schools Get or Renew Accreditation

Three area school systems have achieved voluntary school accreditation. Graves County Schools and Marshall County Schools have first-time accreditation from the AdvancED/Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). McCracken County Schools renewed its accreditation.

UK faculty senate says Capilouto spending led to budget crisis

The University of Kentucky Faculty Senate says UK President Eli Capilouto's fifty million dollars in new spending following a round of layoffs this summer has created a budget crisis.  The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the group sent a memo to Capilouto Thursday acknowledging dwindling state support while allegin the UK president's budget priorities have led to the crisis.  Capilouto says he set those priorities after consultations with the Board of Trustees and the UK community.  University officials announced 140 layoffs in June, the first in UK's history.  They say another round of cut

KY Baptists to Cut Ties with Georgetown

The Kentucky Baptist Convention is moving to sever its remaining ties with Georgetown College. The convention will vote on a recommendation at its annual meeting next month that would terminate its ministry partnership with the institution. An administrative committee voted in September in favor of the measure. The college and Kentucky Baptists broke off a covenant agreement in 2005 in order to allow Georgetown to elect its own trustees.
