"The Wonder of Learning" Reggio Emilia's Educational Philosophy Comes to Henderson

 "The Wonder of Learning - The Hundred Languages of Children" is an exhibition of the infant-toddler Centers and Preschools of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, Italy, at the Henderson Community College Fine Arts Center. This Thursday through Saturday there's a conference featuring speakers from the schools of Reggio Emilia, and it's still open for attendance. Kate Lochte asked Murray State College of Education's Dr. Jo Robertson, Chair of Early Childhood and Elementary Education to explain what the Reggio Emilia philosophy of Education is about. All About the A.W.E. Early Literacy Station at McCracken Co. Public Library

Kate Lochte speaks with McCracken County Public Library’s Director Julie Hart on Sounds Good. The Library has added a new computer system designed for children ages 2 to 8, the A.W.E. Early Literacy Station. This is a new service at the library where children can play educational games on specialized computers, geared towards learning math, reading and language skills. Detecting Vision Problems in Early Childhood

Terri Long is one of several volunteers with the Murray Lions Club who are trained to perform FREE vision screening tests for children ages 6 months to 6 years, catching vision problems that could impede education and worse, cause death. So far the Murray club has screened over 1,000 kids. Long says that she can make appointments for day care centers and schools who want to provide this FREE screening for their children upon parent notification and approval.
