Marcella Perkins opened the kitchen in May 2011 to feed the hungry of Marshall County. Since then, she and her volunteers have served over 62,000 meals, five days a week. Marcella and Dana Spiers stop by Sounds Good to speak with Tracy Ross about the Empty Bowls Project kicking off with a Paint-a-Thon and Chili Dinner on November 6.


The Gibson Brothers were voted 2013 Entertainers of the Year at the IBMA World of Bluegrass 24th Annual Awards Show in Raleigh, N.C. On Sounds Good, Tracy Ross speaks with Eric Gibson who was named the Songwriter of the Year that same year, in advance of the Gibson Brothers performing at the Kentucky Opry next week. Draffenville's own Clayton Campbell is also in the band. 

This year's Grammy nominations for Best Bluegrass Album include "Three Chords and the Truth" along with projects by The Boxcars, Dailey & Vincent, Della Mae, and Del McCoury Band. Writing for the CD release of "Three Chords and the Truth," Randy Pitts recalls hearing James King for the first time in 1992 in Owensboro and describes him as a "stocky ex-Marine whose voice bowled me over."
