After a challenge to a Kentucky campaign finance law, unions are no longer allowed to make contributions to political action committees and candidates.

University of Louisville President James Ramsey publicly confirmed Thursday that the university is in talks to receive a large monetary gift — said to be $6 million — from Papa John’s International CEO John Schnatter and the Charles Koch Foundation.

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway is warning people to watch out for scams throughout the season of giving.  Conway says donations to reputable charities can provide clothing or food for people who are struggling, but fraudulent groups take advantage of donors and prevent those who need help from receiving it.
