Murray State University's Symphonic Wind Ensemble is the second to perform new work, "Symphony no. 2 - La Commedia" by Boston composer Brett Abigaña, based on Dante's Divine Comedy. The concert is tomorrow night (Nov. 5) at 7:30 p.m. in Lovett Auditorium. On Sounds Good, Austin Carter speaks with Abigaña and Director of Bands Dennis Johnson about how the work is crafted so as to avoid the stereotypes of Inferno, Purgatory and Paradise, while pushing the boundaries for a contemporary audience.

The United States Air Force Band of Mid-America plays a free concert at Murray State University's Lovett Auditorium on October 15, their first concert in the area as they tour the Midwest. Tomorrow night's (Tuesday, November 5) President's Concert at Murray State University's Lovett Auditorium features the MSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble performing three compositions written to challenge the student musicians and delight listeners. Director of University Bands Dennis Johnson conducts. He speaks with Kate Lochte about the lively program, which is free and open to all.

It begins at 7:30 pm in Lovett Auditorium. The Wind Ensemble has a national and international reputation due to its touring schedule, including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. 

Murray State University Director of Bands Dennis Johnson join us on Sounds Good to preview the 19th Annual Provost's Concert, this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Lovett Auditorium and includes guest trumpet artist Joe Burgstaller and a premiere of a composition by MSU's Dr. Michael D'ambrosio.
