The Rotary Club of Murray hosts the Tom Rushing Memorial Ham Breakfast Saturday morning from 7 to 10 at the Murray Middle School Cafeteria. The menu includes country ham, sausage, biscuits, gravy, fruit, pastries, coffee, milk, and orange juice. Tickets are available at the door. Proceeds benefit local Rotary Club community projects. 

he Murray State University Jazz Band and the Murray State University Jazz Orchestra present a fall concert tonight at 7:30 at Lovett Auditorium. The Blue and Gold Jazz Combos also perform. Guest directors are Dr. Roger E. Reichmuth, John E. Fannin, and Dennis L. Johnson. Admission is free. 

Lari Gibbons is a Visiting Artist in Printmaking for the MSU Department of Art & Design. She gives a public lecture about her work tomorrow evening at 5 in room 631 of the Doyle Fine Arts Building at Murray State University. The lecture is free and open to the public. 

The Friends of the WG Rhea Library hold a sale of used children’s books this Saturday from 10 to 3 at the Kroger shopping center in Paris. There’s a drawing for a set of Dr. Seuss books, and the Cat in the Hat visits with children and hands out bookmarks. 

Baptist Health Paducah offers “Shine a Light on Lung Cancer,” a vigil to remember those who are struggling with lung cancer and those who have lost their lives to the disease. Speakers include cardiothoracic surgeon Nicholas Lopez. The vigil is tomorrow evening at 5 in the Larry Barton Atrium at Baptist Health Paducah.

There’s an Empty Bowls Project Paint-A-Thon and chili supper this Friday night from 6-8 at Marcella’s Kitchen in Draffenville. Each painted bowl is used in the 2016 Empty Bowls Project Dinner. Proceeds from the project support Marcella’s Kitchen, a community kitchen that feeds the hungry five days a week. Paint-A-Thon tickets are available at the door. 

The 11th annual River’s Edge International Film Festival is this weekend in Paducah. The festival highlights independent films at three downtown venues: Maiden Alley Cinema, the Market House Studio Theatre, and the National Quilt Museum classroom. The Creative Arts Department of the Murray Woman’s Club holds a Christmas Bazaar, Bake Sale, and Raffle this Saturday morning from 8 to 11:30 at the clubhouse. Proceeds go to a scholarship for Murray State University art majors. The public is invited to attend. 

Pianist Dr. Brian Ray presents a program of French piano music this Saturday afternoon at 3 at the University of Tennessee at Martin Blankenship Recital Hall. Dr. Ray is an adjunct member of the keyboard faculty at Rhodes College in Memphis. The recital is free and open to the public.
