The Murray Art Guild holds a kids’ holiday crafts event this Saturday morning from 10 to 11:45 at the guild. Instructors guide kids ages 7 to 10 through three different holiday crafts: snowmen, twig trees, and paintings. Each craft can be taken home that day. Pre-registration is required. The guild is located at 500 North 4th Street.

The Calloway County Public Library offers a free computer class titled "Holiday Crafts Using Your Computer" this Thursday morning at 10 at the library. The class is free, but registration is required. The library is located at 710 Main Street in Murray.

There’s a signup day for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library tomorrow afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 at Toyota of Murray. Any family living in Calloway County with a child up to five years old is eligible to enroll. Each child within the age range receives one free book a month until his or her fifth birthday. The signup event includes a story time and refreshments. 

The faculty and students of the University of Tennessee at Martin present “Holiday: A Music Benefit Concert” this Sunday afternoon at 3 in the Harriet Fulton Theatre. The program includes performances by the wind ensemble, New Pacer Singers, jazz band, and others. Proceeds benefit students in the Department of Music. 

The Austin Peay State University Department of Music holds its Sixth Annual Holiday Dinner this Friday and Saturday night at 7 in the Morgan University Center. The formal sit-down dinner features APSU music students performing vocal and instrumental holiday selections. The menu includes salad and a salmon, steak, pork, or vegetarian dinner entrée. Reservations are required. 

The Town & Gown Chorale and the Town & Gown Community Band present a combined Christmas concert at First Baptist Church in Murray this Friday night at 7. The chorale is led by Dr. Bradley Almquist, and the band is led by Dr. Derek Jones. The performance is free and the public is invited to attend. 

A reception celebrating the 1980s Murray Community Chorus and its director, Dr. Irma Collins, is this Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 at the Calloway County Public Library. There will be historic memorabilia and music from the chorus’s performances. Former chorus members, members of the community, and those who enjoyed the chorus’s performances from 1980-1984 are invited to attend. 

Angels Attic Thrift Shop holds its annual Christmas Bazaar this Saturday from 9 to 3. Angels Attic Thrift Store funds the Angels Community Clinic and the Gentry House for homeless families, and provides assistance to other local agencies.

In honor of Samuel Clemens’s 180th birthday, Robert Valentine presents “Twain Remembers” Monday night at 7:30 in Murray State University’s Johnson Theatre. The one-night performance features Valentine’s interpretation of American author and humorist Mark Twain. Admission proceeds benefit Playhouse in the Park and the MSU Department of Theatre. 

The Nature Station at Land Between the Lakes invites kids to make animal snowflakes tomorrow from 11 to 1. Several different patterns are provided, allowing kids to cut out a colorful snowflake with an animal design hidden in its folds. The craft is free with admission to the Nature Station.
