It all came to an end for Milli Vanilli on this day in 1990: stripped of their "Best New Artist" Grammy for lip-syncing the hit, "Girl You Know It's True." During an MTV concert, the backing track hit a snag and began repeating "girl you know it's true" over and over. Four days later, Grammy no more. I guess it wasn't true after all.

The Carson Center in Paducah presents the Broadway hit musical “West Side Story” tonight and tomorrow night beginning at 7:30. Being that guy with a metal detector paid off big time for Eric Lawes, who was merely looking for his friend's lost hammer when he discovered the Hoxne Hoard, one of the largest hoards of Roman gold and silver in the world. The collection valued at over $4.2 million (today) and was purchased by the British Museum. We're pretty sure the hammer is still out there.

Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area offers a Kids’ Fossil Field Trip on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4. Meet at the Golden Pond Visitors Center for a trip to a rocky shoreline. On the day after today in 1922, The Daily News reported "For the first time in history, news was broadcast in England last night by the British Broadcasting Company." Director of Programmes Arthur Burrows read the two news bulletins from the Marconi House in London. He later remarked that it was a great test of nerves. But we're glad he did it.

On this day in 1982, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was formally dedicated and right away placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The American Institute of Architects ranked the wall tenth on their "List of America's Favorite Architecture."
