Kentucky students in grades 9-12 are invited to apply for this year’s Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Farm to School Junior Chef competition. Teams consisting of three to five members prepare a recipe including at least five local products and conforming to National School Lunch Program guidelines. Datebook: February 3 - Tobacco Cessation, Ann Hamilton Art, Fort Henry Anniversary

West Kentucky Community and Technical College offers several free tobacco cessation classes this spring. This week’s class is titled “Plan to Be Tobacco-Free” and is led by Jamie Smith of the Kentucky Cancer Program. The class meets in Crounse Hall Room 101 Thursday morning at 9. The community is invited to attend.

Austin Peay State University’s Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center hosts an exhibit titled "Black Ink, Blue Collar" featuring the watercolors of APSU alumna Miesha Arnold. The display opens today and runs through the 27th. A closing reception is scheduled for February 26 from 5-7 p.m.

Middle school teams compete Feb. 6 and high school teams compete Feb. 20 at the UK College of Engineering Campus. Winning teams go to Washington, D.C. to compete at the national level. The Humane Society of Calloway County is accepting donations of Christmas decorations, linens, mugs, and dishes for use at its Bazaar fundraiser next year.
