Police suspect a southern Illinois man shot and killed a Mayfield teenager and later killed the teen’s mother today.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says 41-year-old Terry Froman of Brookport allegedly murdered and abducted his ex-girlfriend 34-year-old Kimberley Thomas and her 17-year-old son. 

UPDATE: Barnard will appear in court Monday, June 9. His arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Marshall County. Barnard is currently being held at the county jail.

Webster County Officials Searching for Escaped Inmate

Webster County officials are searching for an escaped inmate last seen in Madisonville Monday morning. 

A joint investigation by the Graves and McCracken County sheriff’s offices has led to a seizure of 63 firearms and three arrests.

The search of 55-year-old Ronald Andrews’ home in the Boaz community of Graves County also yielded marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Commonwealth Attorney G.L. Ovey has turned over a 2002 Cadiz murder case to special prosecutor Tim Coleman.

Last month, Ovey filed a motion to recuse himself as prosecutor in the trial of Claude Russell, who's accused of killing Chantell Humphries.

The Murray Police Department says a local woman faces murder charges in a shooting death on Oxford drive in the city's Canterbury Subdivision. Sergeant Dave Howe says police responded to a domestic disturbance call around 12:30 p.m. today. Howe says Michelle Baxter, 50, of Murray  is lodged at the Calloway County Jail.  The investigation is still ongoing.

Two Murray State University students report being assaulted near campus in the past three weeks, prompting the university to send out a safety alert.

Both victims were women, and the unknown attacker wrapped his hands around their throats. The first assault occurred around 3:30 a.m. at the Chase Apartment parking lot April 6th. The second attack was at 15th and Hughes streets around the same time April 14th. The second victim saw the attacker and describes him as a dark skinned male wearing a hoodie.

McCracken County

A Texas man led McCracken County Sheriffs on a chase on I-24 yesterday afternoon. Deputies pursued 27-year-old Jerry Page at speeds over 100 miles-per-hour after receiving complaints of reckless driving. Kentucky State Police reported the car Page was driving was also involved in a motor-vehicle hit and run in Marshall County. Deputies reported Page’s car spun out and stopped, allowing them to arrest him. Page is now in McCracken County jail on charges of evading police, wanton endangerment, and multiple driving offenses.

Madisonville PD

Arrests in the city of Madisonville Kentucky are up 24 percent compared to last year. Police Chief Wade Williams credits increased patrols and the use of statistical analysis of crimes for the rise in arrests.

A Kentucky man run over by a Murray State basketball player in a Wal-Mart parking lot says he's angry about his attacker's proposed sentence. Jason Clement of Murray told WPSD that a 30-day jail sentence for Racers guard Zaveral "Zay" Jackson is too lenient. Jackson pleaded guilty earlier this month to wanton endangerment. He admitted to running down Clement and his wife September 9th. Clement says the fall left him with little mobility in that arm but has not been able to afford medical attention.
