Fiscal Court to Consider Loan Program

Nov 19, 2012

The Henderson Fiscal Court will consider funding two business projects through a new county loan program at its Tuesday meeting.  The Henderson County Rural Communities Revolving Loan Fund was authorized in August to allow would-be businesses to borrow up to 10 thousand dollars at no interest over a 10-year period.

The mayor of a Henderson County town suggests new leaders consider dissolution. Corydon Mayor Hilda McCormic says financial issues that plague the city of about 700 people would be difficult to rectify since current officials cannot find past financial records. The lack of records shows that the city has not had an audit since 2010. Mayoral candidate and councilman Philip Brewster Jr. says dissolving the city would be a last resort. If elected he said he would address the financial problems before dissolution.
