One of the most popular figures on the world stage arrives in Washington on Tuesday. During his week-long stay in the U.S. — which he's never visited before — Pope Francis will meet President Obama, address Congress and the United Nations, name a new saint, visit Ground Zero in New York and attend the Catholic World meeting of families in Philadelphia.

Bob Warren is remembered across the region not only for his career as a professional basketball player after graduating from South Marshall High School and going on to Vanderbilt but also his Christian ministry organization, The Hill, located in Hardin. Marshall Countian Jhonda Johnston's new book The Argument tells Warren's personal story, collected before his passing last year. Kentucky’s junior senator told a conference of social conservatives in Washington Friday there’s a worldwide war on Christianity.

Republican Rand Paul was speaking to the Value Voters Summit hosted by the Family Research Council. He said the war is being waged by a fanatical element of Islam.
