Christian County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Marian Mason has resigned her post, effective immediately. In a release, she said her reasons are personal.

Department of the Army representatives are set to meet next month at Fort Campbell to discuss proposed budget cuts that could potentially reduce personnel there by 50 percent.

The Christian County Chamber of Commerce has extended an offer to its next military affairs director as it prepares for potential cuts.

Chamber President and CEO Marian Mason says Katie Lopez will start Nov. 17, almost two months after Kensley Marcus left the position. Lopez has served as regional coordinator with Fort Campbell’s In Gear Career and as co-director at the Southern Kentucky Veteran Council.

The Christian County Chamber of Commerce has conducted a study to project the effects of a proposed reduction of 16,000 troops by the U.S. Army and compare it to the Army’s Supplemental Programmatic Environmental Assessment, and the Chamber says the economic impact would be devastating.

Christian County Cares 2015 is moving into the third phase of the Community Vision Plan, hosting forums welcoming community input for ways to improve the Christian County/Hopkinsville area.
