Three of the four Republican gubernatorial candidates converged in Paducah Friday night to court votes at the McCracken County Republican Party’s Reagan Dinner, held at the Carson Center.

In a rare vote for the first week of a short legislative session, a Senate Judiciary committee has unanimously adopted a measure aimed at tackling Kentucky's heroin problems.  The bill calls for increased treatment in jails, tougher sentences for traffickers, and wider distribution of a drug designed to reverse the effects of an overdose.

Commissioner James Comer says many of the reforms he brought to the Kentucky Agriculture Department are needed across state government.  The gubernatorial candidate was in Bowling Green Friday speaking to the group Leadership Kentucky. 

After serving on the Daviess County Republican Party's leadership team for almost three years, Owensboro native Barbara Knott had enough.

She resigned on July 10 and the reason was simple; Knott cannot support Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell this fall.
