Second Evacuation Ordered for Train Derailment Cleanup

Officials are evacuating more than two dozen homes near a train derailment that occurred two weeks ago in southwestern Jefferson County. Louisville-Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Jody Duncan says 31 homes within a half-mile of the derailment are being evacuated to allow workers to remove hazardous chemicals from some of the tanker cars.

Shelter-In-Place Warning Expanded to 2 Miles After Train Derailment

EMA/MetroSafe is now saying the evacuation and road closures will likely last 24 hours after the incident.

Update: 10:55 a.m.

The evacuations and road closures caused by a train derailment and chemical leak in southwestern Jefferson County will likely last for at least 14 hours.
