Salvation Army Bell Ringers Still Needed

There's still time for a moment of making people smile and help feed the hungry by being a Salvation Army Bell Ringer in Murray. The effort needs more Bell Ringer volunteers for five upcoming slots: this Saturday and next and the Monday and Tuesday of Christmas week.  Murray Calloway County Hospital Chaplain Kerry Lambert speaks with Kate Lochte.

St. Nicholas Family Clinic needs volunteers to move furniture that's no longer needed to Hope Unlimited in Paducah this Saturday. Kate Lochte learns more about the volunteer opportunity and St. Nicholas Clinic activities with Rayla Bridges, on Sounds Good. The clinic's  mission is to provide quality healthcare to working individuals who do not have medical insurance or financial resources necessary to pay for private insurance and/or medical care. Former employees of a veterans charity already under scrutiny in Tennessee say the organization handed out only a fraction of the money it raised in the form of gift cards. Florida-based Veterans Support Organization is under fire for its fundraising methods that brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars and for threatening to fire workers if they did not meet fundraising quotas.

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway is warning people to watch out for scams throughout the season of giving.  Conway says donations to reputable charities can provide clothing or food for people who are struggling, but fraudulent groups take advantage of donors and prevent those who need help from receiving it.
