Rising 9th graders through high school graduates from around the country enjoy a fast-paced art workshop experience with no prior art training required with Murray State art faculty in mid-June. On Sounds Good, Kate Lochte learns more about this week-long event with printmaking faculty and workshop director Nicole Hand and how to get on the mailing list for next year's workshop.

Paducah School of Art and Design is hosting open studio for ceramicists and friends to make and glaze bowls for this year's Empty Bowls Project. Ceramics Professor John Hasegawa speaks with Kate about how one can get involved. Also, they talk about what's on display at the WKCTC Clemens Gallery and the National Ceramics Invitational, which opened January 23 and runs through February 13.

Colin Nesbit of Murray State's Clara M. Eagle Art Gallery joins Chad Lampe on Sounds Good to talk about the work of Tim Kowalczyk on display, called "Simlulacra: Ceramic Works." Simulacra is the plural for simulacrum, which means likeness or similarity, often tied to photorealism or pop art. Viewers of the gallery will recognize the objects on display as things other than porcelain construction despite the medium. The gallery is on display through October 18. See more on The Clara M. "Centering the Circle: Ceramic Works by Craig Rhodes and Chase Gamblin" has an opening reception at the Ruth Baggett Gallery at 1025 Jefferson in Paducah from 4 to 8 pm. Paducah School of Art Construction Underway

Construction has begun on a new Paducah School of Art location. Director Paul Aho tells the Paducah Sun this first phase of construction is set for completion in 2013. The building underway will stand in the city’s LowerTown district, housing the school’s ceramics program.
