City commissioners in Paris, Tenn., are narrowing down their list of applicants for the position of City Manager. Current City Manager Carl Holder is retiring after 40 years in city management and will serve his last day July 1st, 2015.

Alleged Paris Beating Victim Pleads Guilty to Misdemeanor Perjury, Stands by Original Report

A Paris, Tenn. man who says he was beaten and robbed last year has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor perjury.

Joe Williams had been charged with a Class D felony of a false report of arson or robbery. Williams’ attorney, Sunny Eaton of Nashville, said her client still stands by his account and merely admitted to omitting details in his original report which he later told police.

Paris Considers Ordinance Limiting Yard Sales

A proposed ordinance in Paris, Tennessee could put an end to what locals call perpetual yard sales. City Manager Carl Holder says some people were running the yard sales like a business, and it was becoming an eyesore. He says,

“The problem is that very often they simply throw a tarp on them and leave them out there sometimes for weeks or months. So it is the purpose of the ordinance to limit the number of times a year you can have a yard sale…”
