The Murray Independent and Calloway County school districts will begin taking bids later this month on a new career and technical center that will be jointly owned by both districts.

Hopkinsville Community College Youth Programs

Carol Kirves, Associate Dean of Continuing Education for Hopkinsville Community College, talks about Career Craze, summer camps that offer students a glimpse into jobs in agriculture and manufacturing, and KICKS, a 23-year tradition in summer camps offering kids the experience of choosing what they want to learn, as well as another camp for teaching young students about decision making. 

An engineering firm and insurance company have asked the Hopkins County Circuit Court to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Hopkins County Board of Education concerning a sinking school building. The new career and technology center is on top of a reclaimed strip mine, which Associated Engineers Inc. deemed stable. But just months after construction started engineers discovered cracks in the foundation and unstable soil. Now the project requires remediation efforts.

Executive Order Merges State's Two CTE Systems

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear signed an executive order Tuesday merging the state’s two high school career and technical education systems. Previously, the Kentucky Department for Workforce Investment operated 53 Area Technology Centers across the state, while 34 schools districts oversaw their own career and technical centers.
