Natural gas provides an increasingly large share of the country’s electricity. And now, the fuel is growing in popularity as an alternative to gasoline. A new Louisville plant is betting that natural gas as a vehicle fuel is a technology that will be around for decades or longer.
Report language accompanying the final FY 2012 Appropriations legislation asked the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to provide a report on alternative sources of funding for public broadcasting stations in lieu of federal funding. Jobless rates have improved in 107 Kentucky counties, but not Jefferson.
The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training released the latest unemployment numbers today. They show Jefferson County's jobless rate jumping from 8.1 percent in April to 8.6 percent in May. Most counties in the Louisville area saw similar increases.
Last May, the Jefferson County unemployment rate was 9.9 percent.
