Kentucky lawmakers are working to establish a standardized definition for bullying within public schools.  Legislation to add an official definition to each school’s code of conduct cleared the full senate 30 to 6 on Wednesday. 


Several Kentucky school systems are signing up for a free bullying tip service as the school year begins.

The Kentucky Center for School Safety has offered the online tipline since this spring but KCSS Postsecondary Director Karen McCuiston says many systems are signing up with the start of the academic year after receiving summer training for the program.

A northwest Tennessee teenager has started an anti-bullying movement called “Pinky Promise Against Bullying.” Carlie Vowell is a sophomore at Westview High School in Weakley County. She and friends are spreading the word that bullying is not OK through videos, radio station spots, a Facebook page, and an online pledge. Angela Hatton spoke with Vowell about the anti-bullying effort.
