Bees have been on decline in the western hemisphere for the last 10 or 15 years, says beekeeper hobbyist Jim Gould. This is due to reduction in habitat, invasive pests and an increase in pesticide use. On Sounds Good, Kate Lochte speaks with Gould about how beekeepers can bring populations back from the brink and how people interested in beekeeping can get started, ahead of the McCracken County Master Gardener's Toolbox program next Tuesday.

Farmer’s markets may see a delay in produce this season due to an extraordinarily cold winter. Meredith Hall, Agriculture Agent for Crittenden County, says planting is two weeks behind schedule and cold weather crops like lettuce, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts, may be late to market.

Beekeeping is now legal in Madisonville after the city council voted in favor yesterday of an ordinance that would strike down the 47-year-old ban on hives.

Councilman Mark Lee, who sponsored the ordinance, said it passed unanimously and with no changes in a special-called meeting.
