  This weekend, Fancy Farm Picnic emcee Matt Jones eschewed the traditional, “keep it civil” remarks that usually open the picnic’s political speaking in favor of a 10-minute roast of every politician onstage - touching on Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jack Conway’s hair and Mitch McConnell’s lukewarm affection for former primary foe, now Republican gubernatorial nominee Matt Bevin. But Jones offered a particularly snide appraisal of outgoing Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear’s accomplishments.

Kentucky was one of 13 states where same-sex marriage bans were overturned by a landmark Supreme Court decision on Friday.

In Kentucky, an estimated 57 percent of the population still disapproves of same sex marriage, according to a May poll.

With that, state lawmakers and other leaders cautiously responded Friday to the ruling and moved forward with implementing its ramifications.

Democratic candidate for governor Jack Conway unveiled his jobs plan on Tuesday, saying that his administration would expand broadband Internet to rural areas, train a better workforce and grow Kentucky’s tourism, bourbon and coal industries.

Kentucky Gubernatorial candidate Jack Conway has agreed to participate in a series of debates with GOP candidate Matt Bevin.  

The Conway campaign accepted invitations to six joint appearances throughout the state before the Nov 3 election.

State Agriculture Commissioner Jamie Comer is asking for a recanvass after he lost last night's primary to Louisville businessman Matt Bevin by only 83 votes. 

Al Cross, Director of the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues doesn't anticipate a re-canvass will change the outcome of the state GOP contest. Cross says there's little doubt about the vote count, because it's almost entirely electronic.

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway has filed a federal lawsuit against Marathon Petroleum, accusing the company of abusing its monopoly on the wholesale gasoline market in the commonwealth.

Conway says Marathon is engaging in anti-competitive practices that result in higher gas prices in Kentucky, particularly in Louisville and Northern Kentucky.
