A Paducah artist’s work is on display at galleries in South Korea and Ohio.  

Paul Lorenz is one of  85 artists who submitted work for the Manifest Creative Research Gallery’s “Kentucky Regional Showcase” in Cincinnati. Lorenz says he is thrilled to be associated with Manifest.

 

“I was very happy and very surprised [to be selected]. I’ve applied for Manifest in the past and have been rejected,” Lorenz said. “I know that they are very stringent about the work they jury into exhibitions.”

 

Murray-based artist Eva King will display her work on the walls of the capitol for the third time as part of a Kentucky Arts Council exhibit.

A Murray woodworking artist has been selected as the Kentucky Arts Council’s featured artist for the months of September and October.

A Murray State alumnus has gifted a dozen of his paintings to the university for display on campus.

Printmaking, the art of creating a print and putting it on paper, spans centuries and many forms are still active in the art world, from etching to relief to silkscreen. But one form that is considered "the beast" of the medium, lithography, combines artistic "magic" with chemistry. Tennessee State University professor and printmaker Meghan O'Connor conducts workshops at Murray State and area high schools this week and on Sounds Good, Kate Lochte meets the artist, who gives a public lecture Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Clara Eagle Gallery classroom (weather depending) and printmaking professor Nicole Hand.

Murray Art Guild is calling for entries for its 26th annual exhibition celebrating local and regional contemporary artists. MAG Director Debi Danielson joins Kate Lochte for more about Visual Evidence 2014 - the entry deadline is Wednesday, February 19. The opening reception is March 15.

Artist Bill Conger presents "Coming Dark - Selected Works 2004 through 2014" at Murray State's Clara Eagle Gallery, through March. Peoria-based artist Conger uses mixed media to craft minimalist and haunting work, recollecting themes of love, memory and time. Colin Nesbit, Executive Director of the Clara Eagle Gallery also joins the conversation about Conger's upcoming exhibit.

The Paducah School of Art & Design have postponed their art sale until next weekend due to inclement weather. Their annual Student and Faculty sale showcases work done in the program, with a small portion of the sale benefiting the school.

The Marshall County Arts Commission presents "SandStory" with Joe Castillo this Saturday (October 19th) at 7 p.m. in the Kenneth Shadowen Performing Arts Center of Marshall County High School in Benton. Castillo reached the finals in NBC's America's Got Talent last September. See Joe Castillo's work in action at his website.

Murray State art professor and local artist Dale Leys joins Kate Lochte on Sounds Good to talk about his exhibition titled, "Dale Leys: A 40 Year Retrospective," opening at The Yeiser Art Center, Maiden Alley Cinema, and Ruth Baggett's Gallery 1025 this weekend (October 5, 2013), through November 2. The works display Leys' live and experience as an artist living and teaching in western Kentucky and his travels abroad over the decades.
