Officials at Austin Peay State University say six nooses arranged in the colors of the rainbow were part of an art display for a class focusing on yarn and were not intended to be a political statement or hate symbol.

Clarksville’s Austin Peay State University is implementing a new training program to help cater to its nearly 25 percent student population who’ve served in the military.

Military Student Center Coordinator Jasmin Linares says identifying those students is an effort to make the transition from military life to student life as easy as possible, and to do that the university is implementing a Green Zone training program.

Austin Peay State University has narrowed its search for a new athletic director down to four finalists.

The Tennessee state university began looking for a new athletic director in April when Derek van der Merwe was promoted to Vice President of Advancement.

The Governors Terrace complex consists of the five-floor Eriksson Hall, and two four-floor dormitories at the north and sound end of the complex.

APSU Recognized for Sustainibility Programs

Austin Peay State University has joined a community-based sustainability program. The Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program recognized APSU this week for its conservation efforts. The university added a sustainable campus fee in 2008 to help fund initiatives, such as recycling projects, alternative fuel vehicles, solar panels and better irrigation systems for landscaping. Going green is a trend among universities.
